BIRDS
OF A FEATHER
At times
it is a sweet little whistle or a song sung
under the cover of green. Other times it is
a squawk that causes your head to snap
around with eyes open wide. Regardless of
the sounds that are made or the places where
they all live throughout the earth, they
have some things in common with one another.
Here it is the alabaster. |

DARWIN'S HAND
His hand
carved out the valleys then He promised to
walk with us there. At times the path
through the valley seems small and tight,
yet as we push on through we find that
things open up according to His plan.
Mountains and valleys, He made them both.

Defending Wings
Explorers
were frightened and told stories in their
camps at night, stories of a mountain that
moved as if it was alive. Nestled deep
within a fortress of rugged mountains was
said to be a mysterious mountain as smooth
as silk to the touch with wings of polished
stone running down each of the sides.
Resting on the shoulders of this mountain is
the head of a large bird with a beak that is
hundreds of feet long. The story goes that
this bird of rock leaves its haven on
occasion in search of food to feed its
young. When it does, the sky is darkened
with its presence and all that can be heard
in the night sky is a strange wind blowing.
The flight is said to be very short because
the bird must return with its Defending
Wings to protect its young. To some it is
just a polished stone of sorts but to
others, well, they know.

Frozen in Stone
The
extreme heat began to melt the tops of the
mountains. The eruption was so fierce the
billowing smoke and cinders could be seen
for many miles. Unable to see what was
happening within the core of the mountain,
people stood afar to gaze in awe and wonder.
However, a piece of this historic eruption
has been preserved, showing us what the
molten lava rock would have looked like
during this process. Extreme heat upon
eruption has changed the molecular
components within the rock. As the glacier
descended it cooled off the lava offering us
an eruption frozen in stone. |

Throat of the Mountain
Many
times mountain climbers and tourists have
been heard to say, If that mountain could
talk it would sure have a story or two to
tell. Fact is, the mountain can talk but
few are found to be listening closely enough
to hear it. Often in the early morning on a
slightly damp and windy day you can smell
the breath of the mountain and you just know
that there is a voice longing to be heard. |

Twisted Shadows
Turn a
corner and the shadows move away from you,
creeping deeper within the crevices of the
rock. Dare we venture inside to follow them?
In doing so we find the cave and the rock
tunnel leading us to new light, telling us
to look up and to move forward. Unlike the
rugged mountains, the rock slides within are
smooth and take us around bends revealing
dancing shadows on the walls and floor. |
